Tajikistan pledges to enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation with Japan
On April 11, 2018, Ambassador of Tajikistan to Japan Hamrokhon Zarifi hеld talks with the leadership of the Japan-Tajikistan Parliamentary Friendship League — the Chairman of the Friendship League, Mr. Keiji Furuya, the member of the House of Councilors Mr. Keizo Takemi and the Secretary-General of the Friendship League Mr. Yoshihisa Furukawa. The meeting took place in the House of Representatives, lower house of the National Diet of Japan.
A statement by the Tajik MFA Information Department indicated that the Japan-Tajikistan Friendship League has existed in National Diet of Japan for many years. Its new membership formed in beginning of 2018. Ambassador of Tajikistan extended warm congratulations to Mr. Keiji Furuya on his election to the important and honorable post of Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship League with Tajikistan.
The issues of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation, ways to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations between Tajikistan and Japan, and the contribution of the Parliamentary Friendship League to enhance Tajik-Japanese relations were discussed.
The sides noted with satisfaction the intensification of the dialogue between the two countries and expressed interest in strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, as well as in the need to develop cooperation in the spheres of economy, social welfare and tourism.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador of Tajikistan wished the members of the Parliamentary League of Friendship success in their activities aimed at fostering relations between two countries and invited them to visit Tajikistan.
