President Emomali Rahmon meets Head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov
The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a meeting with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Office Vladimir Voronkov on the sidelines of the High-level International Conference on “Countering Terrorism and Preventing Violent Extremism”.
The discussion touched on current issues regarding the cooperation of Tajikistan with the UN and its structures.
The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon pointed out that Tajikistan, as an active member of the international community will continue to make every effort to strengthen the joint struggle against terrorism, extremism, radicalism, illicit drug trafficking and countering illicit arms trafficking, transnational organized crime and other challenges facing the world.
The constructive dialogue between nations within the framework of the UN, SCO, OSCE, CSTO, CIS and other relevant international and regional organizations was noted with satisfaction by Tajikistani sides.
It was stressed that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan developed and adopted its National Strategy on Countering Terrorism and Extremism (NSCTE) for the Period up to 2020″.
The two sides continued to exchange opinions on the overall situation in the region and the world, in particular political situation in neighboring Afghanistan.
Other issues being of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
