Beijing hosted the meeting of Secretaries of the Security Councils of the SCO member states
DUSHANBE, 24.05.2018 /NIAT «Khovar»/. On May 22, the 13th meeting of the Secretaries of the Security Councils of the SCO member states was held in Beijing. The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was headed by the Secretary of the Security Council Abdurahim Qahhorov. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the Embassy of Tajikistan in China.
The participants had an exchange of views on the security situation in the SCO member states and in the region. Particular attention was paid to the situation in Afghanistan and the stabilization of the situation in this country as an important factor in ensuring regional stability.
Abdurahim Qahhorov in his speech outlined the position of Tajikistan on key issues in the sphere of security and put forward a number of proposals in this direction.
The parties also discussed issues of further development of cooperation in counteracting contemporary challenges and threats, improving mechanisms for cooperation between member states after the expansion of the SCO. They confirmed the rejection of the application of the policy of “double standards” towards terrorists and extremists.
It was noted the importance of adopting relevant documents to be submitted for consideration at the SCO summit in Qingdao.
The sides noted the holding of a number of events in the SCO member states, in particular it was given high assessment to the results of the International Conference on Countering Terrorism and Extremism (Dushanbe, May 3-4, 2018), which served as an important platform for interaction between the parties on specified directions.
The heads of delegations were received by the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.
