Grant Agreement on “Promotion of Inclusive Education for Children with Disabilities” was signed in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 30.06.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Through the close cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan and Hissor city department of education, Association for Aid and Relief, Japan (AAR Japan) aims at supporting the current efforts of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for inclusive education, defined in the “National Conceptual Framework for the Inclusive Education of Children with Disabilities in the Republic of Tajikistan”.
AAR Japan begins one year project on inclusive education for children with disabilities in Hissor city with financial assistance from the Japanese government.
The signing ceremony, which was held on June 29 in the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Tajikistan, was attended by Mrs. Latofat Naziri, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Hajime KITAOKA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Tajikistan, representatives from Hissor city department of education, partner organization, and partner schools.
In this project, AAR Japan will install handrails, wheelchair ramps, and renovate bathrooms in the school buildings of the School No. 15 and No. 24 of Hissor city in order to enhance the accessibility for students with disabilities. Besides the barrier free renovations, wheelchairs, assistive devices, and educational materials will be provided to the resource classrooms allocated by those two schools.
To strengthen the capacity of the human resources for inclusive education and encourage the inclusion of students with disabilities at mainstream schools, seminars, trainings, and awareness raising activities will be conducted.
This project will be the second of the three phases that AAR implements for inclusive education in Hissor city.
We will recall that the school No. 2 and No. 5 of Hissor city from the previous project will continue working with AAR Japan as leading schools of inclusive education in Hissor city.
