The CEO of Afghanistan arrived in Tajikistan on an official visit on June 20, 2018 to attend the High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028.
President of the country Emomali Rahmon stressed that Tajikistan is interested in developing and expanding relations with Afghanistan and always takes creative efforts in this direction.
The head of state Emomali Rahmon drew out that active participation of Abdullah Abdullah and his accompanying delegation in the High-level International Conference is a sign of friendly Afghanistan’s comprehensive support regarding global initiative of Tajikistan on water-related issues.
During the meeting the two sides discussed current matters relating to bilateral cooperation regarding the current situation in Afghanistan as well as international and regional topics.
It was noted that the strengthening and development of cooperation in the fields of trade and economy, energy, science, education and security has a promising future.
President Emomali Rahmon pointed out that we are also interested in a new level of cooperation in science, education, culture, healthcare, information and social activities. Tajikistan is ready to train a large number of specialists in the fields of energy, healthcare, irrigation, agriculture, rail transport, construction, architecture, various technologies and hundreds of scientists for Afghanistan.
During the discussion of international issues, special attention was paid to cooperation in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and other forms of transnational organised crime. Further coordination of Tajik-Afgan efforts in this regard would be a factor of peace, security, fruitful cooperation and freedom in the region.
