Third meeting of Organizing Committee of the International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 was held in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 06.06.2018. (NIAT Khovar) — Today, under the leadership of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of Organizing Committee of the International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 Qohir Rasulzoda was held the third meeting of this Committee.
At the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Muhriddin, reporting on the preparations for the International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, noted that up to now 65 official delegations consisting of 1100 people from 118 countries were registered to attend the International Conference. In particular, it is expected that the heads of states and governments of four countries (Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Djibouti), ministers and deputy of ministers of 35 countries, as well as leaders and representatives of more than 41 international organizations will attend Dushanbe International Conference. The UN delegation will be represented by the UN Under-Secretaries-General.
Registration of participants will continue till the week’s end. It is expected that the conference will be attended by about 1500 people around the world.
In order to hold this Conference in high political and organizational level, there were established Working Groups consisting of responsible representatives of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan. These groups will start their activity tomorrow, June 7. 60 volunteers will also help Working groups.
According to the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda, to date has been created the International Guidelines Committee. It includes sector’s leading experts from all parts of the world. The first meeting of this committee was held in March in Brazil and the second in May in Dushanbe. The third meeting will be held on June 18 on the eve of the International Conference on the launching of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, in capital city of Tajikistan — Dushanbe.
Usmonali Usmonzoda also reported that the official website of the Conference (https://wsdconf2018.org/ru/) is activated on the Internet in two languages — Russian and English.
It was emphasized that following the International Conference the three main documents – “On the results of the Conference”, “Declaration of the Conference” and “Invitation to Action” (the Complex proposals of participants on measures of Decade “Water for Sustainable Development”) will be considered and accepted.
We will recall that the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 has been adopted by the UN at the initiative of the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The International Conference on launching of this Decade will be held in Dushanbe on June 20-21.
Following the meeting of the Organizing Committee, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda gave concrete instructions to the members of the Committee — heads of relevant ministries and agencies for the shortest possible completion of the preparations and high-level conduct of the Conference.
