Commanders of Border Troops of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan took part in military exercises
DUSHANBE, 17.08.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Commander of Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan Rajabali Rahmonali met with the Commander of Border Troops of the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ruslan Mirzaev here in Dushanbe.
According to the head of the press center of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Republic of Tajikistan Muhammad Ulugkhojaev, during the meeting the parties had an exchange of views on the military-political situation in Afghanistan and on the Tajik -Uzbek state border.
They also discussed prospects for further cooperation on the work of checkpoints, guarding state borders, exchanging information, strengthening the fight against the threats of the modern world.
“During the meeting, the border officials located on the Tajik-Uzbek state border were instructed to develop and approve a plan of joint actions to localize conflict situations at the border and conduct various cultural and sporting events”, — the head of press center added.
According to him, the commanders of the two border agencies signed the Agreement on Cooperation.
Also, at the junction of the state border of three countries — the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the Shahritus district, the border guards of the two countries held a joint military tactical-special exercise “Jayhun-2018”.
The exercise was conducted to strengthen border with Afghanistan due to the difficult situation in the neighboring state, as well as to prevent external threats to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
In the exercise “Jayhun-2018”, interaction and cooperation of the border units of the Border Troops of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan in solving joint tasks to neutralize the threats to border security on the state border were worked out and improved.
