DUSHANBE, 02.08.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan issued an official comment on the killing of foreign tourists that was committed on July 29 current year, on the Kulob-Dushanbe highway, on the territory of Safobakhsh village, Oqsu village community, Danghara district, Khatlon province.

According to the issued comment, the terrorist act was committed by order of a some Qori-Nosir, an active member of the terrorist and extremist organization Islamic renaissance party /TEO IRP/* in order to assassinate the state and public security of Tajikistan.

During the interrogation, the criminal Abdusamadov Husein Abdusamadovich confirmed that he is the leader of the terrorist group, and the terrorist act was committed by the order of Qori-Nosir, an active member of the TEO IRP. After committing crime, they aimed to flee to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan via Panj district and join terrorist groups.

The customer of the crime is Ubaidov Nosirkhuja Ahtamovich nicknamed Qori-Nosir, who since 1992 is an active member of the TEO IRP and since 2015 is on official wanted list.

We will recall that on 29 July 2018, at 15:30, an armed group of criminals on a “Leganza” car, on Kulob-Dushanbe highway on a high speed ran into six foreign tourists – citizens of the United States of America, Switzerland, the Netherlands and France who were heading on bicycles from Kulob for Dushanbe city. After knocking them down, three criminals, with a view to killing, beat on the vitally important organs of the tourists with thrust and cutting weapons, such as big knives and axes, and fled the scene of the crime. As a result, 4 foreign tourists – Austin Jay, Geoghegan Lauren Anne Munoz – citizens of the USA, Wokke Rene Willem – citizen of the Netherlands, Hummel Markus – citizen of Switzerland died, and another two tourists, Postma Kim Iris – citizen of the Netherlands and Diemand Marie Claire – citizen of Switzerland, were hospitalized in a serious condition in the Danghara district hospital.

The investigation of the terrorist act continues under the direct control of Prosecutor General of the Republic of Tajikistan Rahmon Yusuf Ahmadzod, the necessary investigative actions are being carried out, all criminals have been detained.

In September 2015 the TEO IRP attempted an armed coup d’état, and its activity was officially banned by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan.
