PRESS SERVICE OF THE PRESIDENT: “ICY RAIN AND SNOWFALLS CREATED DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS FOR THE LEADER OF THE NATION, BUT HE DID NOT TURN OFF THE TRIP TO MURGHOB»
DUSHANBE, 13.09.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. As we reported earlier, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived on a working visit in Murghob district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region. The purpose of the trip to this remote region is to get acquainted with the socio-economic development and living standards of the people, the course of construction activities and to conduct dialogue with its people.
According to the press service of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan “the weather changed dramatically in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region in the early morning, it was raining and snowing heavily in Khorog and Murghob district.
Usually, the high-speed winds and the heavy snowfalls not only create obstacles for the helicopters take-off, but also a threat to people’s lives.
But despite this, the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon by his courageous and creative efforts did not cancel his trip to this most remote region of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, and came to the meetings and conversations with the industrious people of Murghob district”.
Murghob is about the only significant town in the eastern part of Gorno-Badakhshan. It is the highest-located town in Tajikistan (and of the former Soviet Union) at 3,650 m above sea level.
Despite this, as the press service of the President writes: «Representatives of various professions of the Murghob district welcomed the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon in a warm and solemn atmosphere, with an expression of love, respect and sincerity.
