DUSHANBE, 12.11.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Tajik wrestler Khushkadam Khusravov won gold medal at the World Sambo Championship, which takes place these days at the Sala Polivalenta Sports Palace in the Romanian capital, Bucharest.
In the final battle, Khushkadam Khusravov, competing in the weight category up to 62 kg, picked up on points over Russian wrestler Ruslan Bogdasaryan.
Thus, the gold of Kh. Khusravov became the fourth medal won by the Tajik wrestlers during the three days of the championship in Bucharest. Earlier, Akmaliddin Karimov, Behruz Khojazoda and Sorbon Latifov brought bronze medals to the national team of Tajikistan.
On the first day of the championship, Tajik athletes Jomi Hasan, Mustafo Hasanov, Komronshohi Ustopiriyon and Behruz Zuhurov (combat sambo) lost to their rivals and knocked out of further struggle.
The national team of Tajikistan under the leadership of the head coach Nosir Bozorov included Jomi Hasan (up to 52 kg), Akmaliddin Karimov (up to 57 kg), Khushkadam Khusravov (up to 62 kg), Mustafo Hasanov (up to 68 kg), Behruz Khojazoda (up to 74 kg), Zafar Olimshoev (up to 82 kg), Komronshohi Ustopiriyon (up to 90 kg), Muhammadrizo Kurbonzoda (-100 kg), as well as four athletes participating in combat sambo competitions — Sorbon Latifov (up to 62 kg), Umedjon Muhiddinov (up to 68 kg), Behruz Zuhurov (up to 74 kg) and Soleh Hasanov (up to 90 kg).
Khushkadam Khusravov became the third World Sambo Champion in the history of Tajikistan. The first World Championship was won by the legend of the Tajik sport Saidmumin Rahimov in September 1975 in Minsk. 23-year-old Tajik athlete Behruz Khojazoda won the gold medal at the previous World Sambo Championship in Sochi in November last year.
