Tajikistan women’s football team finished first round of Olympic Games-2020 qualifiers with victory
DUSHANBE, 14.11.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The first qualifying round of the women’s football tournament of the Olympic Games-2020 in group A ended in Hissor city of Tajikistan. According to its results, the women team of Tajikistan took the third place in the group, ahead of Mongolia and Singapore.
As the press service of Tajikistan Football Federation reports, Tajik girls won a major victory over the Singapore national team with a score of 6:0 in the final round. The goals of Tajik team were scored by Gulsunbi Halimova (5) and Madina Fozilova (1). This is the second victory of the women’s team of Tajikistan in this tournament. Earlier in the first round, Sulaymon Bobokalonov’s wards defeated the Mongolian team (4:1).
In another match of the 5th round, the Chinese Taipei team prevailed over the Philippines team — 5:0 and, gaining 12 points out of 12 possible, took first place in group A. The Philippines girls had 9 points. The national team of Tajikistan with six points closed the top three. Next in the table are Mongolia and Singapore, who scored one point each.
Thus, Chinese Taipei and Philippines teams of Group A advanced to the next round of the women’s football tournament of the Olympic Games-2020. Tajikistan lacked only one point to reach the next round of the tournament.
Besides Chinese Taipei and Philippines, the teams of Iran, Hong Kong (Group B), Myanmar, India (Group C), Jordan and Palestine (Group D) also made their way to the second qualifying round, where Uzbekistan and Vietnam previously went without a fight. Among the two best third-placed teams in their groups were the teams of Nepal (group C) and Palestine (group D).
The second qualifying round of the women’s football tournament of the Olympic Games-2020, where 12 teams will be divided into 3 groups, will be held on April 1-9 of the next year.
