Khujand FC Signs Legionnaires from Georgia and Uzbekistan
DUSHANBE, 16.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Vice-champion of Tajikistan Khujand FC signed two legionaries, the 26-year-old Georgian defender Tornike Jimsheleishvili and the 31-year-old Uzbek goalkeeper Ruslan Matniyozov.
Jimsheleishvili spent last season playing for Kolkheti-1913 FC, the highest Georgian league, reported the official website of Khujand FC.
“I’m very pleased that I became a player of this club. I had a choice between continuing my career in Georgia or in Tajikistan. But I chose Tajikistan, and this choice is fully justified. Khujand FC is an ambitious club, which has a chance to get into the AFC Cup group stage this season. I really want to help the club in toward direction. This is a big challenge for me. I want to win as many trophies with Khujand FC as possible, especially since this is my first foreign club,” said Jimsheleishvili.
Goalkeeper Matniyozov is another new Khujand FC recruit. He spent last season playing for Surkhan FC in Tirmez, Uzbekistan.
“Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have developed very good relations in recent years. I’m glad that I can play in many cities of this fraternal country for us. I want to win a lot of trophies with Khujand FC and help to get it into the AFC Cup group stage,” said Matniyozov.
