DUSHANBE, 17.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – A roundtable focusing on the current situation and the problems relating to young families will be held on January 23 in Dushanbe.
Representatives of all interested ministries and departments of the country, religious scholars from the Council of Ulema of Tajikistan and other officials will take part in the meeting, reported the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports of Tajikistan.
In 2016, new laws prohibiting marriages between close relatives and compulsory medical examination preceding marriage entered into force. Corresponding amendments were made to the Law of Tajikistan “On Registration of Acts of Civil Status” and the Family Code.
These measures aimed to help young people create strong unions and reduce the divorce rate, which has been increasing in recent years.
