Tajikistan Beat Iran in the Doha Four Nations Tournament
DUSHANBE, 16.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Olympic team of Tajikistan (U-23) beat Iran at the start of the Doha Four Nations Tournament yesterday.
The Tajik team defeated the Iranian team with a score of 2:1. Ehsoni Panjshanbe and Sheriddin Boboev have scored the winning goals for Tajikistan, reported the Football Federation of Tajikistan.
In another match, Qatar defeated Kuwait with a score of 3:1.
The head coach of the Olympic team of Tajikistan (U-23) Usmon Toshev commented on the victory over the Iranian team (2:1) at the start of the Doha Four Nations Tournament.
“We started the tournament with a victory and it is very important psychologically. The guys felt that they could play and could win. But were a lot of mistakes. It was the first match and we had to win and earn three points. I am pleased with their dedication on the field. Most importantly, they obey and train very well,” noted Toshev.
“Our game is still far from ideal, so we need to train and progress. I think that the most important thing is to prepare for the qualifying matches of the Asian Championship 2020 that will be held on March 22-26 in Tashkent,” Toshev added.
The matches of the second round will be held on Friday, January 18. Tajikistan will play against Qatar at 19:30 local time (21:30 Dushanbe time). Iran will play against Kuwait at 17:30 local time.
All tournament matches will be held at the Doha Aspire Academy.
