Cycling Race and Marathon Will Be Organized in Honor of Navruz
DUSHANBE, 22.02.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports (CYAS) is organizing various sporting events in commemoration of the international Navruz holiday.
A cycling race and a marathon will be held on Saturday, March 16. The event will start from the town of Chorbog and will end at the Navruzgoh Palace in the capital, reported the CYAS.
The CYAS will likewise organize other sports and recreational events throughout the country. Traditional wrestling competitions will be held on March 10-30. The open horse racing competitions will take place on March 20-25 in the cities of Dushanbe and Norak as well as in the district of Bobojon Ghafurov.
Buzkashi, another Navruz traditional sporting event, which is played on horseback, will also be held on March 10-25 throughout Sughd, Khatlon and GBAO as well as in the districts of the republican subordinations.
This initiative is aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and mass participation in sports among the population.
