President Emomali Rahmon Arrived in Khatlon Province on a Working Trip
DUSHANBE, 23.03.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Khatlon. The trip’s aim was to get acquainted with the socio-economic development of the province and to take part in the opening ceremony of various facilities.
President Emomali Rahmon visited the Kushoniyon district and took part in the opening ceremony of Ganj Production Enterprise, the largest oil-producing enterprise which cost local entrepreneurs more than 8.5 million somoni to build. Annually, it can produce 35,000 tons of sunflower, flaxseed, rapeseed, cereals, as well as 10 tons of vegetable oil and 21 tons of oil meal.
The enterprise created 40 new jobs. It houses the most modern equipment delivered from Russia and the Czech Republic, which has no analogue in the region.
Later, President Rahmon attended an exhibition showcasing product samples of goods produced by various enterprises in Khatlon.
Presently, there are 512 enterprises and workshops in the province engaged in the production of goods, which greatly contribute to the domestic market.
Large enterprises, mainly involved in cotton processing, dairy, meat and poultry production, confectionery products, canned fruit and vegetables, vegetable oil, paints, furniture, silk threads and satin export their products to Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Afghanistan and other countries.
President Emomali Rahmon also got acquainted with the Public Transport Development Project and attended the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the construction of a passenger terminal which will be built in an area encompassing three hectares. The cost of the project exceeds $10 million. It will be implemented within the framework of cooperation of the government of Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
Following this event, President Rahmon visited the Bokhtar State University named after Nosiri Khusrav and and there took part in the inauguration of the Department of Politics and Public Administration, inspected the new constructed building and spoke with the students.
Bokhtar State University is the largest professional university in Khatlon and occupies a special place among other professional universities in the republic. Currently, 6,340 students study at the university sans tuition, 420 pay tuition and 586 students are under the Presidential Quota. The university has 111 international students from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
For Navruz, President Emomali Rahmon presented gifts to more than 40 students who had grown up in an orphanage.
Thereafter, he attended the inauguration of The Sports Complex of the Bokhtar State University named after Nosiri Khusraw, which has a 4,000-seat capacity limit.
President Rahmon proceeded to visit the Behbudi Trade Cooperative Farm and got acquainted with the progress of planting and growing agricultural crops. The cooperative farm, which was created in 2009 and which significantly contributes to the consumer market, encompasses over 21 hectares.
In addition, the head of state launched a cotton-sowing campaign in an area of 26 ha in Vakhsh. There are 96,215 hectares of land in Vakhsh and agricultural production grows every year. The area’s volume of agricultural production in 2018 equaled more than 763.5 million somoni, which is 9.2 million somoni more than in the previous year.
