Emir of Sharjah Praises Tajikistan’s Corner at the 17th Sharjah Heritage Days

DUSHANBE, 05.04.2019. (NIAT Khovar) –  The 17th Sharjah Heritage Days kicked off on April 2 in the United Arab Emirates. The event brought together more than 2,000 guests and representatives of about 60 countries.

A group of art masters and craftsmen led by the Deputy Minister of Culture Zevar Davlatzoda represented Tajikistan in this cultural event.

Samples of handmade knives, jewelry, stone carving, embroidery, engraving, pottery, as well as samples of women’s national clothing from atlas, adras, chakan and modern, fashionable interpretations were exhibited in Tajikistan’s corner.

Following the opening ceremony of the festival, Emir of Sharjah Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi visited Tajikistan’s corner and highly praised the craftsmanship and rich cultural heritage of Tajiks.

The Honored State Dance Ensemble Lola named after Gaffor Valamatzoda, the Dance Ensemble Jahonoro and the pop orchestra Gulshan gave the attendees a taste of Tajik music by performing during the event.

Davlatzoda met with Al Qasimi within the event, reports Press Centre of the Tajik Ministry of Culture.

The upcoming World Folkloriada 2020 meetings with the leadership of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, a meeting on organizational issues with members of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts (CIOFF) Committee on the preparation and organization of the World Folkloriada are also planned.

The 17th annual event dedicated to the national traditions and history of Sharjah will continue until April 21.

For 18 days, guests will be able to get acquainted with the customs and way of life of its residents, attend historical and art exhibitions, take part in master classes on making traditional pillows and perfumes, watch folk, music and dance group performances, and try national dishes. Interactive tours and workshops will also be organized for children.

“Sharjah Heritage Days is one of the most popular events for both locals and tourists from different countries. Last year the festival was visited by over a million people,” note the organizers.
