CESCD Receives a Set of Special Equipment for Rescue Activities
DUSHANBE, 23.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD) under the government of Tajikistan received ten sets of rescue equipment manufactured by the Dutch company Holmatro. The equipment was purchased by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Tajikistan.
The purchase is part of the four-year project on Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Capacity, signed between Tajik CESCD, Japan and the UNDP in September 2016, reported the CESCD’s Press Centre.
The rescue equipment kits include cutters, spreaders (extenders), combination tools, crash kits, general-purpose kits, hydraulic racks, mechanical and pneumatic racks, low-pressure pneumatic pads, high-pressure pneumatic pads, light pole, manuals and mechanized tools.
The Chairman of the CESCD Rustam Nazarzoda, thevAmbassador of Japan to Tajikistan Hajime Kitaoka, the UNDP Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Pratibha Mehta, as well as the heads and representatives of several international organizations accredited in Tajikistan attended the ceremony.
Speaking during the ceremony, Nazarzoda thanked the partners for the equipment and stressed that the new rescue tools will undoubtedly help save many lives and facilitate the work of rescuers.
