President Emomali Rahmon and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi Discuss Strengthened Relationship
DUSHANBE, 20.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Fouder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi. The meeting took place in the Palace of the Nation on May 20.
A whole range of issues were discussed pertaining to the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and China, as well as cooperation within the framework of regional and international organizations.
“We are interested in further developing and expanding the friendship, neighborliness and cooperation with China,» said President Emomali Rahmon.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the present state of the multifaceted relationship between the countries, the results of the official and state reciprocal visits of the heads of state, the implementation of packages of intergovernmental cooperation documents and the participation of the Chinese side in implementing joint investment projects in Tajikistan.
The current state and prospects of Tajikistani — Chinese relations were discussed with a focus on political, economic, commercial, energy, road and transportation, agricultural, industrial, educational, cultural, scientific and technological spheres.
In this context, enhancing the interstate cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and attracting and increasing Chinese investments in the economy of Tajikistan were emphasized.
Regional security, promotion of a peaceful solution to the political situation in the countries of the region and the joint struggle against challenges and threats were mentioned as well.
