(NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon accompanied by the Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali attended the event dedicated to the Border Guards Day. The event took place at the training center Poytakht of the State Committee for National Security.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon laid a wreath at the memorial complex to honour the memory of fallen soldiers who had died protecting the state border. Thereafter, he addressed the gathered soldiers and officers of the Border Guards, congratulating them and all the other servicemen of the Armed Forces of Tajikistan with the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Border Guards of the Republic of Tajikistan.
President Emomali Rahmon noted that the Border Guards was created in the difficult conditions of the first years of independence, without the necessary material technical base, and that after 25 years, due to intensified efforts; it has become a powerful force well capable of protecting the country’s boarders.
One of the first measures that contributed to the achievement of the goals in this direction was the construction and reconstruction of the border infrastructure and the creation of favorable conditions for border guards. The infrastructure of the Border Guards has gradually been brought into line with the requirements of modern standards.
President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that the leadership of the state and government will continue to take all the necessary measures to further strengthen the Border Guard’s material and technical base, and will provide the Special Military Units with modern military equipment.
President Emomali Rahmon noted the prevalence of negative socio-political processes in various parts of the world, including attempts to involve states and regions in armed conflicts, instructing the Border Guards and others to be vigilant.
The Border Guards serves as the frontline defense against the negative phenomena of the modern world, including terrorism, extremism and illicit drug trafficking, which takes place across the border in Afghanistan.
