Tajikistan Actively Aims to Achieve Gender Equality
DUSHANBE, 10.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD) Jamshed Mahmadzoda met with a delegation of the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women on Wednesday in Dushanbe.
The parties discussed the role of women in the development of CESCD and their empowerment, reported the Press Centre of the CESCD.
Mahmadzoda spoke about the efforts of Tajikistan to ensure gender equality.
“One of the priorities of the government of the country and the leadership of the committee is to ensure women’s employment as one of the main conditions for their economic well-being and independence,” noted he.
Mahmadzoda also provided information about the implementation of the National Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction for 2019–2030, which included a set of issues on gender equality.
The UN delegation positively assessed Tajikistan’s efforts in achieving gender equality and its active position on this issue.
