President Emomali Rahmon Meets with President of Afghanistan Muhammad Ashraf Ghani
DUSHANBE, 14.06.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Muhammad Ashraf Ghani. The meeting took place today on the sidelines of the Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
President Emomali Rahmon expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to meet with the head of a friendly neighboring country, and noted that Tajikistan is interested in restoring peace and stability in Afghanistan as the basis for ensuring security in the entire region.
The parties noted the need for close and continuous cooperation between security and law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism, extremism and illicit drug trafficking.
They also discussed issues relating to the strengthening of friendly relations between the two states in the areas of trade, economy, education, science and culture.
Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
