DUSHANBE, 15.06.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Today, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the fifth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

The meeting focused on a wide range of issues relating to the cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar.

President Emomali Rahmon welcomed the distinguished guest in Tajikistan and stressed that Qatar, as one of the most important economic, financial and political centers of the world, occupies an important place in the system of international relations of Tajikistan.

The parties expressed their satisfaction with the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, as well as the Tajik-Qatari business forum.

Interlocutors paid particular attention to the development of relations in the areas of trade, economy, technology, investment, banking, culture, education, health and tourism.

The meeting was also centered on development of cooperation in the fields of hydropower, mining, the final processing of fruits and vegetables, metals and precious stones, in the implementation of which parties expressed interest.

The issues relating to the ensuring regional and international security, joint combating of threats and other important topics were also discussed during the meeting.
