President Emomali Rahmon Receives the Chief Executive of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah
DUSHANBE, 14.06.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – On June 14, in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, in the margins of the Fifth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia, received the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.
The meeting was focused on cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, both at the bilateral level and within the framework of regional and international organizations.
“The situation in Afghanistan as a fraternal and neighboring country is always in the center of attention of Tajikistan. We believe that ensuring the peaceful life of the friendly and good-neighborly people of Afghanistan, above all, should be carried out within the framework of their national and state interests,” emphasized President Emomali Rahmon.
The parties discussed issues relating to the development of trade, investment, transit routes through Afghanistan, cooperation in the fields of energy, infrastructure, science, education, culture, art, health care, and information.
It was stressed that the Joint Commission on Economic, Commercial, Social and Technical Cooperation can play an important role in achieving the fruitful goals of the two countries.
Interlocutors also touched upon issues relating to the security cooperation on the state border of the two countries, joint struggle against the threats of the modern world, as an important factor in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
