A Plane Crash in Farkhobod Kills Pilot, Injures Copilot
DUSHANBE, 04.08.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Antonov An-2 (Colt) single-engine biplane utility aircraft belonging to the Public Organization for the Defense of the Republic of Tajikistan crashed during a scheduled training at the Fakhrobod Flying Club of the Ministry of Defense. The tragedy took place on August 4.
The plane’s pilot, senior lieutenant Davlatov Bakhtiyor Hasanovich, born in 1991, a native and resident of Dushanbe, was injuried as a result of the crash. He was hospitalized in the Khuroson region. His co-pilot Ilhom Rahmatov, 60 years old, died after being taken to the hospital in Khuroson.
The aircraft was used to transport eight skydivers to the height of 800 meters at which point they would exit the plane with their parachutes.
On Sunday, when attempting to the land, at about 10 meters above ground, the plane dove and hit the ground.
The State Committee for National Security (SCNS) has launched an investigation into the incident.
