Recognition of Tajikistan’s Potential Areas as a UNESCO Geopark Discussed in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 23.08.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The conference on UNESCO Geoparks: Tajikistan’s Potential Areas as Possible Nominations was held at the National Library of Tajikistan, reported the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Conference was organized by the initiative of Tajikistan National Commission for UNESCO with support of UNESCO. The event was officially introduced by the Chairman of Tajikistan’s National Commission for UNESCO, Tajik Minister of Culture Shamsiddin Orumbekzoda.
The conference’s main objective was to comprehensively discuss UNESCO World Geoparks Concept as well as their activity and purpose.
During the conference, the issue of recognizing Tajikistan’s potential areas as UNESCO Geoparks was considered.
The conference participants also exchanged constructive views on all other issues regarding this direction.
