Tajikistan Plans to Raise Youth and Women’s Employment
DUSHANBE, 09.08.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan plans to increase the employment of youth and women, to make vocational education more accessible for vulnerable groups, and to increase support for migrants. To this end, the design of a new project titled “Improving Professional Skills and Employment Opportunities” is currently being developed by the Ministry of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population with the support of the Asian Development Bank.
Representatives of the ministries of labor, migration and employment of the population, education and science, higher and secondary educational institutions, and entrepreneurs attended the seminar yesterday wherein the issue was discussed.
According to the Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population of Tajikistan Sumangul Tagoyzoda, one of the priorities of the state policy of Tajikistan is the training of highly qualified specialists.
«The measures taken by the country’s leadership, including the implementation of the project titled ‘Improving professional skills and employment opportunities,’ which is a continuation of the project titled ‘Strengthening vocational education and training,’ aims to reduce poverty, tension in the labor market, and the country’s economic vulnerability to external factors,” said Tagoyzoda.
“President Emomali Rahmon in his last address to the Supreme Assembly presented the country’s industrialization as one of the strategic directions for the state’s development. To achieve this goal, the training of highly qualified personnel is necessary. This problem is being solved,” added Tagoyzoda.
According to the First Deputy Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population Emin Sanguinzoda, the new project was supported by the Asian Development Bank and approved by the government of Tajikistan on December 18, 2018.
“At the moment, international and local consultants are working on the design of a new project, which should be completed in 2020.Within the framework of the new project, it is planned to create three centers for the development of skills and employment in the cities of Dushanbe (in the field of tourism and services), Rogun (in the energy sector) and the Dangara district (in the agricultural sector), as well as in three migration centers in the cities of Khujand, Bokhtar and Vose district,” explained Sanginzoda.
According to him, centers focusing on skill development and employment training will create specialists on the basis of modern technologies, taking into account the international qualified standards of professions and features of today’s production.
