Meeting of CIS Health Cooperation Council Commences in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 08.11.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – The 30th meeting of the Health Cooperation Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) began today in Dushanbe and will run until tomorrow.
Today’s meeting was presided by the Chairman of the Council, Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan Nasim Olimzoda.
Representatives of CIS Executive Committee, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, international experts and partners attended the meeting.
«Public health is one of the important areas of our country’s economic development. In this regard, it is very important to develop cooperation in the field of health care within the CIS,” said Olimzoda.
While reporting about Tajik Presidency in 2019 in the Council, Olimzoda positively assessed the integration of health structures of the CIS member states in 2019.
“This year, over 45 sectoral events were held within the Council, which provided a good basis for cooperation,” added Olimzoda.
The meeting focused on the issues relating to cooperation in the field of psychiatry, oncology, endocrinology, reproductive health and dentistry.
Participants also discussed cooperation with the Consultative Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of CIS member states in the development of draft recommendations for assessing working conditions with the countries of the WHO European region.
They also exchanged views on further cooperation in the fight against infectious and non-communicable diseases, as well as reviewed the implementation of earlier adopted decisions, the main action plan for 2019 and the plan for 2020.
The meeting of CIS Health Cooperation Council has been held since 1992. Tajikistan chairs it in 2019.
