Tajik Hydrometeorology Agency Says Cooler Weather Ahead
DUSHANBE, 19.11.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Agency for Hydrometeorology of Tajikistan is warning residents and guests of a sudden cooling and changing weather in the coming days in the country.
According to the agency, on November 20, under the influence of the cold Arctic and Siberian anticyclones, covering all regions of Central Asia, sharp unstable weather is expected in Tajikistan.
On November 21, it will rain in most parts of Tajikistan, which will turn into wet snow in the foothills and mountainous areas. Rainy and frosty weather in the country will continue until November 23.
On November 21-22, precipitation will fall in most districts of the republican subordination, Khatlon province and the west of GBAO. A sharp cooling is also expected in the coming days.
It is possible that rain and snow, sudden changes in temperature will make traveling difficult, especially in mountainous areas. Fog is not excluded in many areas, in some places visibility will be from 200 to 500 meters.
On November 24-26, sunny and warm weather is expected throughout the country. However, it will still be cold at night. In the valleys the temperature will be between 0 and 5 degrees, in the foothills 3 and 8 degrees, in the mountains 5 and 10 degrees, as well as in mountainous areas 20 and 25 degrees below zero.
Unstable weather will contribute to changes in atmospheric pressure and will affect patients with diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases.
The Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD) under the government of Tajikistan also warns residents to be cautious and to refrain from field work outside.
“Drivers should strictly adhere to the rules of the road during hazardous weather and refrain from exceeding the speed limit,” advises the CESCD.
