DUSHANBE, 16.12.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajik director Zainulobiddin Muso film (Vosikhov) Dughob (Sour Milk) received an award at the 9th International Film Festival of the CIS, Baltic and Georgia countries.

The festival was held from December 12 through 15 with the support of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS (IFES) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of Kyrgyzstan and the Aitysh Public Fund. The winners were announced and awarded yesterday at the festival closing ceremony in the Bishkek.

This year, short films Salt, Pepper to Taste (Azerbaijan), One Day (Armenia), Beach, Forest, Tambourine (Belarus), Bad People (Georgia), Zoo (Kazakhstan), Sunflower (Kyrgyzstan), Collective. I (Latvia), Practice (Moldova), In the Dark (Russia), Sour Milk (Tajikistan), In Joy, and Only in Joy (Ukraine), Monday (Uzbekistan), Loved (Estonia), and I slept When Happiness Passed By (Lithuania) were considered in the festival.

Collective. I, which was directed by Adrian Rosa from Latvia was declared this year’s best film. The film In Joy, and Only in Joy by Marina Roshchina of Ukraine received the prize for best directing. The special prize went to film Sunflower by Chingiz Sulumbekov of Kyrgyzstan, and the audience’s prize went to the film In the Dark by Russian director Maxim Kapl.

Sour Milk by Tajik director Zaynulobiddin Muso (Vosikhov) was awarded a special diploma.

Earlier this year, the film had won the prize for Best Short Film at the Samo International Film Festival in Stockholm. The 35-minute film which was shot in 2018-2019 by Tajikfilm studio, tells the story of a lonely woman who lives in a remote village with her son. Seeking to drive the young woman into their trap, sexual predators make a number of attempts as the viewers become witness to female honesty, pure love and a difficult psychological struggle.

Ansorim Asadullozoda, Rayhona Rahimova, Hussein Kamoliddinov and Assad Kamolov play the main roles.
