Tajikistan and Oman Discuss Enhancing Cooperation
DUSHANBE, 20.12.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sultanate of Oman Yusuf bin Alavi bin Abdullah and the Minister of Tourism Ahmad bin Nasir al-Makhrasi on December 19 in Muscat within the framework of his official visit to Oman.
According to the Tajik MFA information department, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of development of cooperation between Tajikistan and Oman in political, economic, trade, investment, energy, tourism, agriculture, industry, air communication, and migration spheres, strengthening the legal basis and other issues of mutual interest within the framework of international and regional organizations.
The sides noted the importance of establishing high-level contacts and exchange of visits in the development of bilateral cooperation, stressed the need for the establishment of a joint intergovernmental commission and the enhancement of cooperation in various fields.
Following the meeting, the Executive Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman for the period 2020-2022 was signed.
Muhriddin and Omani Tourism Minister emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in the field of tourism, taking into account the tourism potential of the two countries, and stressed the importance of establishing direct contacts between travel agencies of the two countries in order to involve tourists.
The sides expressed their interest in developing the tourism sphere and promoting tourism opportunities, holding joint tourist events, and accelerating the process of coordination on the draft agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism and signing it as soon as possible.
