FM Muhriddin Attends Special Event to Launch SDG-6 Global Acceleration Framework
DUSHANBE, 10.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin attended the High-Level Political Forum Special Event to Launch the SDG-6 Global Acceleration Framework.
High-ranking representatives of member states and heads of international organizations of the UN system, including UNEP, UNICEF, UNECE, UNDP, UN-Habitat, UNESCO, UNDP, FAO, WMO, OHCHR and IFAD also attended the event and exchanged views on the implementation of the water-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
In his speech, Muhriddin emphasized that Tajik government has been developing the National Water Strategy, which is consistent with the Development Agenda-2030 and the country’s National Development Strategy until 2030.
Muhriddin also сommented on the measures to implement the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028.»
Following the forum, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres remarked on the forum’s agenda and expressed his gratitude for the support, contribution and unity shown by the UN member states, the UN agencies, youth, civil society and the private sector on water and sanitation.
