Russian Interior Ministry Informs Tajik Labor Ministry About Migrants Situation
DUSHANBE, 08.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The development of agreements between the Tajik and Russian governments on migration, and the current situation of migrant workers in Russia, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed yesterday in an online meeting between the Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population Gulru Jabborzoda and the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for Migration Dmitry Demidenko.
“In recent years, per President Emomali Rahmon’s initiative, a number of important documents on cooperation have been ratified to ensure the protection of rights and interests, and improve living conditions and the labor activity of Tajik citizens. Their implementation indicates a satisfactory state of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the field of migration,” noted Jabborzoda.
Demidenko noted the measures taken by the Russian government to provide a number of benefits related to the stay and employment of foreign citizens in the context of the spread of coronavirus, including renewal of registration and employment.
Jabborzoda expressed her opinion on some of the problems that Tajik migrants face during this period, and called on the Russian authorities to assist in solving them.
The leadership of the Russian migration service said that extending the period of residence and work until September 15, as well as the absence of administrative responsibility of foreign citizens during this period, would provide an opportunity for formalizing the legal system of labor migrants.
