Working Group Led by Deputy PM Ismatullozoda Completes Trip to GBAO

DUSHANBE, 07.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Per President Emomali Rahmon’s instructions, the working group led by the Deputy Prime Minister Shirin Ismatullozoda visited the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) from July 1 through July 6.

The group which included representatives of the government and the Presidential Executive Office visited Darvoz, Vanj, Rushon, Roshtkala, Ishkoshim, Murghob and Khorog and discussed a number of issues, met with the population, familiarized with the sanitary and epidemiological situation, and inspected the readiness of educational institutions for the new school year, provision of students with school uniforms, provision of healthcare facilities with beds, medicines, necessary equipment and supplies for public health services.

Additionally, the group familiarized itself with the progress of construction and improvement work, as well as the preparation of educational and health institutions in the region for the winter season.

In particular in Khorog, the group got acquainted with the progress of improvement and construction works of a number of buildings, including the construction of a four-story branch of the Amonatbank State Savings Bank, the National Theater, and School No. 8.

While visiting the building of the National Theater, Ismatullozoda was informed that its construction began in 2015 and is ongoing. Currently, with the involvement of Sughd region’s masters, finishing and decorative work of the building are continuing at an accelerated pace. Its customer is the Directorate for the Construction of Government Facilities of the Presidential Executive Office.

While visiting the hospital, the group conveyed their gratitude to the doctors for helping patients, and for their tireless work in preventing COVID-19.

During the pandemic, 1,063 people were treated in the regional hospital.

The Aga Khan hospital have treated 116 patients suspected of having the virus. Currently, seven patients are under the supervision of the doctors there.

During the meetings, existing problems were also comprehensively examined, and the responsible persons of the sphere were given specific instructions to eliminate the existing shortcomings.
