Volume of Production and Export of Agricultural Products Increased by 8.2%

DUSHANBE, 03.08.2020. (NIAT Khovar) –Tajikistan has increased the volume of agricultural production by 8.2% in the last six months. This data was provided today at a press conference by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavki Zavkizoda.
According to him, the total volume of agricultural production in all farms has amounted to over 9.3 billion somoni. Growth in crop and livestock production followed the same trend, increasing by 8.5% and 7.5%, respectively.
According to preliminary data, the total sowing area is 857,000 hectares, which is 1.1% more compared to the same period last year.
In order to effectively use the land, as of July 1 repeated sowing was carried out in an area of 61,000 hectares, which is 2,900 hectares more than in the same period last year.
The production of basic agricultural products has also increased, but the production of potatoes decreased 22.2%.
During the same period nearly 2,500 hectares was devoted to orchards and vineyards, which is 86% of the forecast indicators for the construction of gardens and vineyards.
Over 96,400 tonnes of fruits and vegetables valued at over 130 million somoni ($ 12.7 million) has been exported, which is 24,200 tonnes and over 39 million somoni ($ 3.8 million) more than in January-June last year.
