President Emomali Rahmon Elected as a Delegate of the People’s Democratic Party’s Congress from GBAO

DUSHANBE, 01.09.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The regional conference of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT) in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) nominated President Emomali Rahmon as one of its delegates to the party’s extraordinary 14th congress, reports Chief of the PDPT Office Abdurahmon Khonov.
“It is a great honor not only for the residents of GBAO, but for the whole country that the party’s chairman is represented as a delegate from GBAO. President, as a delegate of this region, will take part in the party’s extraordinary 14th congress,” said Khonov.
According to him, over the past two days, party conferences were held in all cities and districts, where party delegates to an extraordinary congress were known.
In the 2013 presidential election Emomali Rahmon was also represented as a delegate from GBAO, was nominated as a candidate at the PDPT congress and won the elections.
According to PDPT officials, the party currently has about 500,000 members throughout the country, 40% of whom are youth. The party’s extraordinary congress will be held on September 3 in Dushanbe, where a presidential candidate will be nominated.
