Russian Foreign Ministry: Presidential Election in Tajikistan Held in Accordance with International Standards

DUSHANBE, 15.10.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – The presidential election in Tajikistan was held in accordance with international standards. The message was published by the Foreign Ministry of Russia.
“The election was recognized as open, free and legitimate. The expression of will, in which 85.39% of voters took part. It was held in accordance with international standards and in compliance with national legislation, in an atmosphere of competition,” the ministry noted.
Missions from the CIS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization observed the voting.
On Wednesday, the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda published the final results of the presidential election held on October 11. Emomali Rahmon, the incumbent president, won the election after receiving 90.92% of the votes.
