US State Department Welcomes Peaceful Conduct of Tajikistan’s Presidential Election

DUSHANBE, 15.10.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – The US Department of State welcomes the peaceful conduct of the October 11 presidential election in Tajikistan.
“We are pleased to see that Tajikistan’s presidential election was peaceful and orderly during a challenging global pandemic. Important reforms recommended by the OSCE/ODIHR must still be implemented to guarantee necessary conditions for democratic elections,” noted the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs published in its twitter account.
Yesterday, Tajikistan’s Central Commission for Elections and Referenda published the final results of the election. Emomali Rahmon, incumbent president, won the election with a landslide.
