DUSHANBE, 27.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – A round table in honor of the launch of the European Immunization Week in Tajikistan was held in Dushanbe with the participation of officials from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, the World Health Organization Country Office, and UNICEF.
Its main goal is to raise public awareness of the importance of immunization in terms of maintaining public health.
Tajikistan had signed the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1991 and pledged to protect the health of children in 1993. The republic has become an equal member of WHO and, with the support of the UNICEF, the United States Agency for International Development and other donors, is implementing plans and strategies to eradicate infectious diseases controlled by immunization.
Additionally, the government has adopted a Resolution on the National Program of Immunoprophylaxis in Tajikistan for 2021-2025, which aims to improve the immunization system.
The European Immunization Week will end on May 2.
