Istiklol Reaches the AFC Champions League 1/8 Finals

DUSHANBE, 01.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Despite the defeat in the match of the 2021 AFC Champions League group stage by the Uzbek AGMK with the score of 1-2, Istiklol took first place in Group A and reached the 1/8 finals.
In another match of the group Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai defeated Al-Hilal with the score of 2-0.
In Group A Istiklol and Al-Hilal scored 10 points each, but the champion of Tajikistan overtook the club from Saudi Arabia in the standings and took first place. Al-Hilal, like Istiklol, reached next stage of the 2021 AFC Champions League.
In the 1/8 finals, Istiklol will play against the winner of Group E Iranian Persepolis, which reached the final of the tournament last year. The match will take place on September 13 or September 14 in Dushanbe.
In other pairs of 1/8 finals in the West zone on September 13-14 will meet Sharjah (UAE) — Al-Wahda (UAE), Esteghlal (Iran) — Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia), Al -Nasr (Saudi Arabia) — Tractor (Iran).
