Prime Minister Rasulzoda Visits Areas Impacted by Natural Disaster

DUSHANBE, 12.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, per President Emomali Rahmon’s instructions, Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda visited the disaster-affected areas in Yovon and Abdurahmoni Jomi districts of Khatlon region.
Yesterday’s heavy rains in Yovon district caused floods which damaged houses and agricultural lands in the villages of Obshoron and Sitorai Surkh.
Due to heavy rain and mudflows on May 7 and May 8, 19 houses have been completely destroyed and about 100 hectares of agricultural land has been damaged in Navobod 4 and Navobod 5 villages of Abdurahmoni Jomi district.
Ten more houses are currently in danger.
A commission has been established and the affected residents have been relocated to safer places.
Temporary tents have been set up for the affected residents who are provided with regular meals.
A new area has been set aside for the victims to build houses, and specialists are continuing their inspections.
Prime Minister Rasulzoda instructed local officials to begin the construction of residential houses as soon as possible.
Agricultural lands will be allocated for the affected residents and they will be provided with assistance in planting crops.
