Dushanbe Hosts Second Meeting of the Heads of the SCO Environmental Departments

DUSHANBE, 28.07.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – A two-day second meeting of the heads of environmental departments of the SCO member states will be held online and offline from July 28 through July 29 in Dushanbe, reports the Committee for Environmental Protection.
The meeting will be chaired by the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection of Tajikistan Bahodur Sheralizoda.
The meeting will be attended by the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection of Uzbekistan Islombek Bokizhonov. The rest of the SCO member states will participate online.
Over the years of SCO’s activity a significant potential for cooperation has been formed in the field of environmental protection.
The environmental sphere is taking an increasingly important place on the agenda of the organization.
SCO member states are ready to build up further fruitful cooperation in this direction.
Based on the importance of environmental issues for achieving sustainable development, Tajikistan actively promotes the solution of socio-economic and environmental issues as a guarantor of development, along with the issues of lasting peace, stability and security in the region.
