SCO Agriculture Ministers Hold Meeting

DUSHANBE, 13.08.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, Dushanbe hosted an online meeting of the Agriculture Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The meeting was attended by the heads of food security, veterinary, phytosanitary and plant quarantine structures.
The meeting focused on food security in the context of the pandemic, support for a joint project of SCO heads of state on food security, approval of the concept for the establishment of the SCO demonstration base for the exchange and study of agricultural technologies, and approval of the plan of practical implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the SCO authorized bodies on technical cooperation in the field of joint prevention and control of transboundary epizootic diseases.
The officials noted that the pandemic has affected food systems around the world, including in the SCO region. The government of Tajikistan has taken some measures to reduce its negative impact and provide benefits to farmers to ensure full food security.
The heads of delegations approved the concept for the establishment of a SCO demonstration base for the exchange and study of agricultural technologies.
