DUSHANBE, 26.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 13, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan Umed Bobozoda appealed to the ombudsmen of foreign countries regarding the current situation in Afghanistan, in particular the timely prevention of violations of human rights and freedoms, as well as their restoration.
In this regard, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan received an appeal from the Ombudsman of Croatia Tena Einwalter.
“I support the appeal of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan and express my position on the current situation in Afghanistan towards ensuring human and civil rights, and freedoms, especially the rights and freedoms of women and children,” says Einwalter.
The Croatian Ombudsman appealed to the European Union Commission on Human Rights, the Security Council, and other United Nations bodies with a statement to strengthen cooperation in this direction, urging them to help improve the human rights situation in the implementation of the mission of the Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission, and monitor activities in this direction.
The statement of the Commissioner for Human Rights in Tajikistan calls on all national human rights structures (ombudsmen) to cooperate with their governments and relevant state bodies to prevent violations of human rights and freedoms in Afghanistan, and to not remain on the sidelines.
