Ustopiriyon Wins the Presidential Judo Cup for the Second Time in a Row

DUSHANBE, 06.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The eighth International Judo Tournament for the Presidential Cup was held in Dushanbe.
The tournament in addition to Tajik athletes was also attended by judokas from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Iran.
Judokas competed in 4 categories, including 66 kg, 81 kg, 90 kg, and +100 kg.
In the 66 kg category, the first place went to Dilshodbek Yuldoshev from Uzbekistan, who won over the Tajik judoka Firuz Meliboyzoda in the final. Third place was shared by Orif Dodov and Abubakr Bokiev from Tajikistan.
In the 81 kg weight category, Umar Rasulov (Tajikistan) won the gold medal, with the second place going to Rahmatullo Farhodov (Tajikistan). Bronze medals were won by Shodmon Rizoev (Russia) and Khusrav Alamov (Tajikistan).
The gold medal of the 90 kg category was won for the second time in a row by the Tajik judoka Komronshoh Ustopiriyon, who beat the Uzbek athlete Shermuhammad Zhandreev in the final. The third place was shared by Isroil Rahimov (Tajikistan) and Doston Meiliev (Uzbekistan).
In the +90 kg category, Tajikistan’s Temur Rahimov took first place. He was stronger in the final than Anton Brachev from Russia. Bronze medals were won by Uzbek athletes Bekmurod Oltiboyev and Shohrukhon Bakhtiyov.
The winners were awarded cash prizes, which for the first place was 30,000 somoni, for the second place 10,000 somoni, and for the third place 5,000 somoni.
The Presidential Judo Cup of Tajikistan was held for the first time in history in 2013. The first three tournaments were held in the capital, and then for the next two years in Vahdat. The sixth tournament was again held in Dushanbe, the seventh was moved to Khujand.
