President Emomali Rahmon Meets Iranian President Raisi in Ashgabat

DUSHANBE, 28.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On the sidelines of the 15th Economic Cooperation Organization Summit in Ashgabat, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ibrahim Raisi.
Pressing issues of Tajik – Iranian cooperation and major regional and international issues were the main item of the meeting agenda.
At the outset of the meeting, President Rahmon expressed his confidence that the implementation of the reached agreements following the Tajik – Iranian summit talks will give a serious impetus to the development and expansion of bilateral relations.
The parties also touched upon a number of aspects concerning the development of Tajik-Iranian relations in trade and the economy, as well as to promotion of the establishment of joint ventures in the fields of industry, agriculture, energy, mining, and pharmaceuticals.
A special focus was placed on the implementation of large joint projects such as the construction of the dams, power plants, bridges, tunnels, railways, and highways.
The stepping up of the Joint Commission for Trade, Economic, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in strengthening multifaceted ties between the two nations was noted and important.
The parties considered the connection of the transport networks of Tajikistan to the seaports of Iran as important.
The officials looked in detail at the situation and prospects for cooperation on bilateral relations and within international organizations such as the SCO.
