DUSHANBE, 28.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Within the framework of the 15th ECO Summit in Ashgabat, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Their discussion focused on the relations between the two countries, as well as on major regional and international issues of mutual interest.
President Rahmon noted that Tajikistan attaches great importance to the development of interstate cooperation with Azerbaijan and is satisfied with the current level of political dialogue.
While discussing a number of forward-looking topics on the bilateral cooperation agenda in trade and economy, the officials reaffirmed their readiness to boost cooperation in the fields of industry, communications, and cargo transportation.
They noted the necessity of stepping-up the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation for the timely implementation of the reached cooperation documents.
During the discussion of cooperation in the fields of science, education, and culture, they proposed to hold the Days of Azeri Culture in Tajikistan in 2022.
At the end of the meeting, President Rahmon invited the President Aliyev to pay an official visit to Tajikistan. The invitation was accepted.
