Tajik Paralympic Athletes Arrive in Yugra for Winter Games

DUSHANBE, 17.03.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Paralympic athletes from Tajikistan headed by the President of the National Paralympic Committee of Tajikistan Parviz Bobosharipov are in Russia to participate in the Winter Paralympic Games, which will be held from March 18 through March 21 in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk.
Initially, the plan was to include only athletes from Russia and Belarus. However, later it was reported that representatives of Armenia, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan would also participate in the games.
“The participation of our representatives took place with the direct support of the Government of Tajikistan. Our athletes are in a good mood, and, as they say, fighting spirit. We wish them good luck!” the President of the National Paralympic Committee of Tajikistan noted.
Bobosharipov also stressed that sport should help strengthen friendly ties between people and the participating countries.
“We are friends with our colleagues from other countries, despite the fact that during the competition we are rivals. This is what is important for us. Of course, we also want to gain new experience,” said Bobosharipov.
The Tajik Paralympic team that will take part in the Winter Games, in addition to Parviz Bobosharipov himself, includes Sunnatulo Gafforov (alpine skiing), Siyovush Ilyasov (cross-country skiing), Ilhomiddin Abdulloev (skiing coach), and Safarbek Saidov (training programming coach).
The competition will be held from March 18 through March 21. Paralympic athletes will compete in six sports — cross-country skiing, biathlon, curling, snowboarding, alpine skiing, and sledge hockey.
