DUSHANBE, 26.04.2022 (NIAT Khovar) — On the occasion of the start of the European Immunization Week in Tajikistan, a round table was held at the Republican Center for Immunization yesterday.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Abdukholik Amirzoda, heads of health centers in Dushanbe, industry experts, development partners, and a number of media representatives.
European Immunization Week in Tajikistan will be held through April 30.
Amirzoda noted that this important event has been held at the initiative of the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization since 2005. Its main purpose is to increase public awareness of the importance of immunization in maintaining health.
“The theme of this year’s European Immunization Week is Longevity for All. The goal is to re-emphasize the essence of equitable and widespread access to vaccines that help ensure longevity and health of every person,” Amirzoda added.
Tajikistan annually supports the initiative of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and during the European Immunization Week carries out a number of activities to promote immunization among the population as one of the most effective ways of preventing infectious diseases.
A number of important measures are being taken to raise the awareness of medical workers on immunization issues and conduct explanatory work among the population using the media and promotional brochures.
The Ministry of Health calls on the population to support this initiative and take part in the events dedicated to the European Immunization Week.
