2022 Dushanbe Declaration Adopted Following Water Conference

DUSHANBE, 09.06.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, following the meeting and other events that were part of the Dushanbe water process, a press conference was held with the participation of Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda and the UN Deputy Secretary-General Liu Zhenmin for a wide range of domestic and foreign journalists.
Rasulzoda and Zhenmin summed up the results of the Dushanbe Water Conference and informed journalists in detail about the progress of work.
They noted that on this basis, five high-level forums, 12 thematic panels covering all topics related to water and climate, 11 bilateral meetings, the Water Festival and the International Sports Marathon were held in Dushanbe in three days.
Tajikistan’s initiatives are fully supported by the United Nations. In particular, within the framework of the proposals of President Emomali Rahmon to declare 2003 the Year of Fresh Water, 2005-2015 the International Decade of Water for Life, 2013 the Year of Water Cooperation, and the International Decade, Water for Sustainable Development, dozens of national, as well as a number of regional and international events which were held in Dushanbe, each of which had positive results.
A total of 2,600 people from 75 countries, 634 national, regional and international organizations and departments took part in the conference.
Also, more than 500 people took part online in various events of the Dushanbe Water Conference and expressed their opinion on the issues under consideration.
As a result of the conference, the 2022 Dushanbe Declaration was adopted.
